Undergraduate Students

Emily Jaeger

Emily is a 4th year Bachelor's student in the Forensic Science program at Ontario Tech University. She was also the summer 2024 recipient for the NSERC USRA research award where she worked between both the Stotesbury and Desaulniers labs. During the summer, she began looking into how hydrogels can be used as biosensors, and how to begin building this material using click chemistry. She will be continuing this work throughout her thesis which will be co-supervised by Dr. Stotesbury at the Forensic Chemistry and Materials Lab. In her spare time, she enjoys participating in performing arts such as dance and circus, exploring new music, spending time in nature, going to concerts, and playing video/board games

Marwah Elabed

Marwah Elabed was born in Ajax, and recently settled in Courtice. She first joined the chemical biology fall 2023 course taught by Dr. Desaulniers, which sparked her interest in the various characteristics of biological systems and their manipulation for therapeutic effects. Now she is joining the lab to complete a thesis project that explores the off-target effects of siRNAs in cell culture systems. Marwah enjoys spending free time painting and crocheting.
